Steve Jobs-Person Of The Year 2009
Steve Jobs up for Time's 'Person of the Year'
Time magazine has revealed its final seven candidates for Person of the Year, and one Mr. Steven P. Jobs has made the list. Though the editors of Time have already chosen the winner (to be announced on The Today Show on Wednesday morning), MSNBC.com wants to know who us average folk would vote for.
At the risk of our audience being slightly biased, I'm going to release the same poll here. So vote below, and don't feel bad if you don't think Steve should get it. He's already won another little award this year.
'I think I go for this guy! He has guts and determination on his job as well as his health is concern. He is a fighter so so speak and hell politics!

The premier was bundled into a car by aides and rushed away minutes after addressing thousands of supporters. The 73-year-old was obviously shocked and was kept in hospital overnight.
He’s said to have been hit by a small model of Milan cathedral, thrown at close range. A 42-year-old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Massimo Tartaglia is reported to have been receiving treatment for mental problems at a clinic for several years.

Statement from Tom Brokaw on fatal accident
updated 4:27 p.m. CT, Fri., Dec . 4, 2009
Former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw issued the following statement Friday after his car collided with a sport utility vehicle in New York. The driver of the second vehicle was killed:
Tom and Meredith Brokaw, at around 1 p.m. today, were in a three vehicle accident on the Bruckner Expressway. The Brokaws were in the far left lane when they noticed a spool of cable bouncing along the far right lane. Just then, a green SUV in the right lane came up fast and tried to avoid the cable. The driver lost control of her vehicle and slid into the middle lane, forcing a mail truck into the Brokaw lane of traffic.
As the mail truck careened into the Brokaw lane, Tom hit the brakes hard and skidded along the median. When the mail truck catapulted the median the Brokaw vehicle slid into it. Neither Tom nor Meredith were injured but tragically the driver of the SUV was thrown from her vehicle and killed. Tom and Meredith are greatly saddened by this loss of life. [...]

Feds drop case against blackwater guard
By MATT APUZZO – 1 day ago
WASHINGTON — Prosecutors say they'll drop manslaughter charges against one of the Blackwater Worldwide contractors charged in a deadly 2007 Baghdad shooting.
In court documents Friday, prosecutors said they have asked that the case against Nicholas Slatten of Sparta, Tenn., be dropped.
The request itself was sealed, so it's unclear why the case was being dropped. But it could be a bad sign for the government. After the shooting, some guards spoke to investigators under the promise of immunity. Prosecutors have been arguing behind closed doors that the immunity deal did not taint the case.
Five guards, all military veterans, face charges in the shooting that left 17 Iraqis dead. Prosecutors say the shooting was unprovoked, but Blackwater says its convoy was ambushed.

It's awful sad that we lost 8 soldiers in Afghanistan before holidays. I'm grieving--heart my goes out to their families and love ones. I pray for peace and I hope it will come soon. The sooner the better before we lose more of our brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers in that lousy war!
Rest In Peace to those who died. =(

Warner music back in You tube?
Warner Music, which had removed its videos from YouTube after licensing talks with Google broke down last year, just announced that is has reached a new deal with YouTube and that Warner's music videos will once again appear on YouTube. The partnership, according to the official announcement, covers the complete Warner catalog and "includes user-generated content containing WMG acts." Warner will be able to monetize user-generated content thanks to Google's Content ID technology, which can detect copyrighted content in YouTube videos and then allow the copyright holders to sell ads against this inventory.
According to Google, the partnership is based on a revenue-sharing deal. Thanks to this deal, YouTube users will now have access to videos from all the major record labels and most of the major independent labels as well.[...]

Slaying of Annie Le
No charges were filed against 24-year-old Raymond Clark III in Middletown, but police took him into custody while searching for DNA and other physical evidence.
Police and FBI agents staged a dramatic raid on the home of a Yale University animal research technician on Tuesday, seeking evidence that might tie him to the slaying of a graduate student whose body was found stuffed behind a wall in a campus research building.

Five Months is too long to wait, indeed!
note:
We should not wait five months to find a replacement of one member of the cabinet who is already gone.
How I wish I know more about politics so I, myself would be able to understand why we should wait?!

Why skilled immigrants fleeing the U.S.?
Lured by the prospect of climbing to the top of his field, New Delhi native Swaroop Ganguly came to the U.S. 10 years ago and earned a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005.
He became an expert in an emerging technology called spintronics, used to power semiconductors, and worked at several chip companies, including Freescale Semiconductor. But Ganguly, now 32, is moving back to India this summer.

Stimulus advancing health reform
Obama team sees stimulus advancing health reform
In the legislation passed late Friday, Congress approved spending about $19 billion over the coming years on electronic health records and an additional $1.1 billion on research comparing which treatments work best for a particular disease. Also, the bill sets aside about $1 billion for a "prevention and wellness fund." About $300 million of that money would provide additional immunizations. Most of the rest of that money will go to state and communities to help them tackle smoking, obesity and various preventable health problems.
"This represents the beginning steps of the president's health reform vision," said Jenny Backus, a spokeswoman for the Health and Human Services Department. "It's designed to get relief to people who need it most and to do everything we can to bring down the cost of health care, and improve access and quality." [readmore...

Jorge "Papito" Serguera who banned the Beatles is 'DEAD'
HAVANA (Reuters) - The man who banned the Beatles from the communist-run island's radio and television stations has died, state television said on Tuesday.
Jorge "Papito" Serguera, who at the time was president of the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television, pulled Beatles music from the airwaves in the 1970s even though he later admitted he enjoyed listening to it in private.
Serguera, who was 76 when he died, said in a 2001 interview he was following orders from high government officials who viewed the British band's music as a threat to the revolution.
But he was viewed as an architect of a general cultural crackdown that dampened dissent and marginalized many for their beliefs or sexuality.[read more]

Former Bush administration staffers disputed the tone of a Washington Post story published Thursday that described a tech-savvy Obama team moving into a building equipped with creaky computers, out-of-date software, no e-mail service and dead phone lines.
Rather, the former staffers said, the White House has everything a modern corporate office would — Windows XP, BlackBerrys, Outlook e-mail, plenty of laptops and lots of flatscreen monitors and TVs.
"It's a shame if they're having problems moving in," said Theresa Payton, White House chief information officer from 2006 until this past November. "We began to prepare for the transition well ahead of the election cycle. Our aim was to leave it in better shape than we found it."[read more...]
